Chiropractic Care
Our doctors provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. All 3 of our doctors use a variety of techniques to help take care of their patients and meet their individual needs. Our doctors use a combination of the following techniques:
Thompson Technique
The Thompson Technique was patented and developed by Dr. Clay Thompson in 1957. This technique uses a for adjustment, where a gentle thrust is applied to the joints, which in turn, sets the drop piece into motion and targets the specific joint or tissue.
Diversified Technique
Diversified technique is also known as manual adjustments or manual manipulation. This technique has been used for thousands of years dating back to Hippocrates. This is the most popular technique used among chiropractors. This refers to the chiropractor applying a gentle force to the bones of the spine that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function properly. By applying this gentle force, the chiropractor is able to put the misaligned joints back into alignment and relieve any pressure that was previously on the patient's nerves and spinal cord."
Activator Technique
This technique uses a small, hand-held instrument to deliver a gentle impulse to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal joints.
Orthotics
At Better Life Chiropractic, we specialize in custom orthotics. Orthotics are a custom fit molding designed to fit into your shoe so as to aid your walking mechanics and put your foot into a perfect position. Having proper foot mechanics removes unnecessary stress on your spine, hips, knees and feet. These moldings are casted here in the office in a non-weight bearing position. Your foot naturally falls into a perfect mechanical position when no weight is put on it. Orthotics come in many styles including custom fit moldings that fit into your present shoes as well as custom fit sandals, running shoes and casual shoes. The type of orthotic or custom shoe you require will depend on your specific preferences and lifestyle.

Corrective Exercises
At a specific time in your care, your doctor may choose to show you how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in your body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractors will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.
Lifestyle Advice
Many of our patients come to see our chiropractors to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractors will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.
